Stephen Dafoe joined 1832 in 2016 and is currently the Associate Head of Credit Research. Prior to 1832, Mr. Dafoe was Director of Corporate Bond Research at Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets.
Mr. Dafoe joined Scotiabank in 2001, after 12 years with major credit rating agencies in New York and Toronto. At Scotiabank, he followed the full range of corporate bond issuers in Canada, with a particular research focus on utilities, pipelines, and infrastructure. Mr. Dafoe also assisted with ratings advisory work, on selected special assignments. Mr. Dafoe participated in the OEB’s 2009 Cost of Capital Consultation Conference, and in 2010, appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science, and Technology addressing pension matters and the capital markets. Mr. Dafoe also participated in a consultation before the IASB on regulatory accounting practices in Canada. Mr. Dafoe holds a B.Comm in Accountancy and Finance from Concordia University.
